Preparing for a home inspection as a buyer

Preparing for a home inspection as a buyer You've made the decision to buy and your offer has been accepted. Congratulations!
As you are reading this, there must be a condition on the offer requiring a home inspection to be performed. You are strongly encouraged to attend the home inspection and hear, first hand, the advice we will have to offer. There are a few things which you can do to facilitate an efficient and informative home inspection.

carefully read our home inspection agreement before arriving at the property to be inspected

  • preferably, it is faxed to us the evening before
  • the agreement MUST be signed before the inspection can start
  • only you, the client, can sign the inspection agreement (not a real estate agent or other representative)
be present at the property no later than our agreed upon inspection time
bring a notepad if you like (there will be time to take room measurements, etc.)
everyone that has signed the agreement is encouraged to attend

please do not bring children or other relatives along to see the property

  • we need your undivided attention for the duration of the inspection
  • we will spend the last half hour or so preparing your report
  • you may wish arrange for others to arrive near the end of the inspection
bring a cheque or cash, as payment is due at the end of the inspection

We will do our best to educate you on the property that you are considering for purchase. We won't make the purchase decision for you, but provide you with the information on which to make your decision.

See you soon!
